Prof.Johng-ihl Lee’s Technology & Society Views on COVID-19Press Releaseㅣ2020-05-27 09:28
[Friday Invitation] Johng-ihl Lee, President of the Technology Management Economics Association (Dean of Strategic Planning at SUNY Korea)
The end of the information monopoly era. 'Destructive Technology' and manufacturing.
Johng-ihl Lee, a professor at SUNY Korea organized COVID-19 into three categories from a technical and economic perspective.
“During Korea's world-renowned program for prevention of the COVID-19 outbreak, information is no longer monopolized by the government. Similar to the way in which smartphones have reorganized the mobile phone market in an instant, COVID-19 resembles a destructive technology that breaks down existing orders and replaces products. The economic foundation for responding to destructive technologies is the manufacturing industry symbolized by the mask.”
Professor Lee has been working on technology policy and international cooperation for more than 30 years. From a time when convergence studies were not common, he walked the path of grafting technology into society as a whole. He saw the future of Incheon, his hometown, as well as the importance of technological competitiveness in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.
