Located near the coast of Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ), SUNY Korea is the frontrunner of global education and the first American university established in Korea. SUNY Korea currently offers Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Technological Systems Management, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Business Management programs through SBU, and Fashion Design and Fashion Business Management programs through FIT. Job Description
The Faculty of Science and Humanities (FSH) at SUNY Korea invites applications for an adjunct faculty with specialty in Music to start in Spring 2023. The successful candidate will teach the following undergraduate Music courses. Being passionate about teaching and Music is a must!
MUS 105: Music Cultures of the World (3 credits)
An introduction to music traditions from around the world with an emphasis on political, social, and cultural aspects of music. Geographic areas are studied with attention to issues such as migration, gender, nationalism, belief, philosophy, and cosmology, as well as relationships with dance, drama, and poetry in particular music genres.
MU 203: Survey of American Music (3 credits)
A study of the major styles, trends, and significant composers in American music. Through lecture and demonstration, students explore various types of music, including blues, current trends, folk, jazz, rock, show, and symphonic, focusing on their relation to the American experience. No musical background is necessary.
The successful candidate will have:
- Master or Ph.D. in Music or a closely related field
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching Music at the college level
- Excellent command of English (all instruction is in English)
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Teaching experience in an English-speaking institution preferred
- High standard of professional integrity expected
- Online teaching experience preferred
