Student Financial Services

Graduate Program Support

We are committed to supporting our graduate students through Teaching Assistantships (TAs) and Research Assistantships (RAs), which provide both financial assistance and valuable academic experience. Students selected for these positions may receive full or partial tuition support in addition to a monthly stipend.

However, these opportunities are highly competitive as the number of positions is limited. Each department has a fixed number of TA positions available, while RA positions are contingent upon the availability of research funds, either at the departmental level or through individual professors’ research grants.

Assistantship positions are an excellent way to gain professional experience, contribute to groundbreaking research, and receive financial support during your graduate studies.

  • TAs play a vital role in supporting the delivery of courses by assisting instructors with various academic tasks.

    These may include:

    • Preparing course materials such as homework assignments, examinations, and presentations.
    • Supervising laboratory sessions.
    • Leading recitation sections and facilitating discussions.
    • Holding office hours (online or in person) to support student learning.
    • Grading assignments and exams.

A full TA position typically requires 20 hours of work per week during the academic semester.

To qualify for a TA position, a TOEFL score is required as outlined in the English Proficiency Requirements.

Some departments may also require specific GPA conditions to be met in order to be considered for TA positions. Please consult with individual departments for more details.

Note: Academic Affairs does not directly handle TA positions. If you are interested in becoming a TA, please contact the appropriate department for more details.

    • RAs work closely with faculty members on funded research projects. Responsibilities may vary based on the project but often include conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to academic publications.
    • During the Fall and Spring semesters, a full RA position involves 20 hours of work per week.
    • In the summer, RA positions may require up to 40 hours of work per week.

Note: Academic Affairs does not directly mediate RA positions.

Professors individually select students for these opportunities.

If you are interested in an RA position, please contact the relevant professors directly to discuss potential openings.
