Chat-GPT and Commonsense Reasoning PROF. SEUNGSOO PARK DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE. DATE: FRIDAY, MAY26. TIME: 2PM. VENUE: B207. ABSTRACT: In recent years, language models like Chat-GPT have revolutionized the field of natural language proessing, enabling human-like interactions and generating coherent and contextually relevant responses. This talk aims at their introduction, survey, and the incorporation of commonsense reasoning. The talk will delve into a comprehensive survey of Chat-GPT systems. We will discuss the evolution of model architectures, training data strategies, and fine-tuning methodologies, shedding light on the strengths, limitations, and potential ethical concerns surrounding these systems. Lastly, the talk will explore the integration of commonsense reasoning in Chat-GDT models. Participants will discover the significance of incorporating common knowledge and contextual understanding into conversational agents, enhancing their ability to generate more coherent and plausible responses. We will examine recent advancements and ongoing research efforts in equipping language models with a deeper understanding of the world, enabling them to reason and infer beyond surface-level patterns.
