Evaluation Group Recruitment for Metaverse Contest 2021

If you wish to evaluate the metaverse platform for a next-generation education, please apply for the evaluation group of Metaverse Contest 2021! (Details below) - Application: due on July 7th - Recruitment: 20 people (SUNY Korea students or anyone interested in VR Metaverse) - How to apply: send reason for application to professor Jihoon Ryoo: jihoon.ryoo@sunykorea.ac.kr - link: click here *Metaverse Contest 2021 is co- hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA). The contest is held for the popularization of Metaverse services and solutions developed by domestic companies. All the participants will receive the newest VR equipment (on loan) and small gifts. For the purpose of getting evaluation from various perspectives, both experts and the public will take part in the evaluation.

SUNY Korea, a successful case in Songdo

SUNY Korea was recently introduced as a case of a successfully established institution in a journal published by IFEZ. SUNY Korea closely collaborated with IFEZ, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Education on establishing an institution with quality of education. As a result, in 2017, Stony Brook University received a rating of “very good” in every category (business management, education infrastructure, utilization, and self-reliance) of performance evaluation. Information Session for College Counselors of Incheon High Schools

SUNY Korea Admissions Team gave a presentation during the Information Session for College Counselors of Incheon High Schools on 28th June. Detailed information about SUNY Korea’s admissions process was provided during the Q&A session with Admissions counselors of the IGC campus universities. It was a great opportunity to reach out to future applicants in Incheon city and contribute to the community.

Recent Achievement of SUNY Korea Start-up Company, Zero Class Lab

SUNY Korea start-up company Zero Class Lab was selected as one of the student start-up companies for “2020 promising start-up business 300” hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF). The technology of Zero Class Lab covers the automated management of the smart inventory system which allows for developing, manufacturing and producing goods using robotics, computer vision, machine learning and AI. The technology has been upgraded from the former volume measurement program to an advanced program that enables the volume measurement by percentage. Selected teams will go through further evaluation and receive intensive entrepreneurial education for the Start-up Festival in August. more IFEZ Conference on “Logistics, Robotics and AI”

IFEZ (Incheon Free Economic Zone) had a conference on “Logistics, Robotics, and AI” at the Robot Tower of Incheon Robot Land in Cheongna International City. During this meeting, Professor Bruce Jo in the Mechanical Engineering Department gave a speech on implementing robotics in the site of logistics and the required technology, along with the introduction of some robotics at different companies. He claimed that “with this conference as the starting point, cooperation and networking between the relevant companies and organizations logistics will be pursued, so that Incheon can play the leading role in the field of Logistics and Robotics.” Professor Bruce Jo is in charge of the “Innovative Cluster Planning for Aerial and Complex Logistics in Port Authority through Robotics, AI, and Automation” which has been selected as one of the projects for “Renovating the Ecosystem in IFEZ”. *Related articles: Incheon ilbo: Click here Robot News: Click here SUNY Korea Website: Click here

[Admissions Event] Admissions promotion event at FIT fashion show

A SUNY Korea admissions promotion event was successfully held at the Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet on June 5th with an FIT fashion show and exhibition. A lot of people visited the admissions event booth to add SUNY Korea on Kakaotalk Channel and receive gifts. Over 500 people participated in the event. Additionally, some of the students who watched the FIT fashion show visited the booth to get more admissions information about SUNY Korea. The FIT fashion show and admissions promotion event were a great opportunity to let people learn about SUNY Korea.

[Admissions Event] June 5th Information Session

The SUNY Korea Admissions Information Session for the Fall 2021 and Spring 2021 semester entry was held at Shilla Stay Samsung in Seoul on June 5th. Students and parents who participated in this session showed high interest in SUNY Korea. They were able to get a lot of information about the admissions process through the information session, Q&A session, and a chat with the admissions counselors. The information session was a great way to communicate with the future applicants of SUNY Korea.

SUNY Korea Commencement Spring 2021

SUNY Korea had the Spring 2021 Commencement ceremony on June 18th. SUNY Korea awarded a total of 85 students, including 44 students from Stony Brook University and 41 students from FIT with the respective degrees. The commencement was held offline with a limited number of people due to the strict social distancing of COVID-19, and was also live-streamed on YouTube. During this event, SUNY Korea President Wonki Min, Honorary President Dr.Myung Oh, Stony Brook University President Maurie Mclnnis and FIT President Joyce Brown gave commencement and congratulatory addresses.
